| Basic Texas Hold'em rules are pretty easy to
understand, which might be the main reason why this game is so popular. But,
before going into the rules, we recommend that you download an online poker
software (PartyPoker is our recommended online poker room),
to play texas hold'em poker for free while learning more about the basic rules
of texas hold'em poker. At the beginning of each game, one person will be
chosen as dealer. This dealer is always the person on the left of the previous
dealer. Then, the person sitting on the immediate left of the dealer of the
hand that is about to be played has to pay the small blind, which is usually
half the big blind. The big blind has to be paid by the person sitting on the
left of the small blind (or sitting 2 to the left of the dealer).
After the blinds have been posted, each player receives 2 cards face down.
Now, a first round of betting occurs.
Then, three cards will be dealt face up into the center of the table. These
are community cards and can be used by every player still in the hand to make
the best hand possible. After the three community cards have been dealt,
another betting round takes place.
Next, a fourth community card will be dealt, which can also be used by
every player still in the hand to make the best hand possible. Another betting
round now takes place.
At the end, a fifth card will be dealt. This is again a community card and
will be dealt face up into the middle of the table. Again, this card is
available to everybody still in the hand to complete their hand. After this
card has been dealt, a last betting round takes place, at the end of which,
the players show their cards and the person with the best hand according to
the hand rankings wins the pot.
Now, the next hand begins and the person who was the small blind in the
previous hand is now the dealer. The previous big blind now becomes the small
blind and the person sitting on the left of the previous big blind now posts
the big blind.
